“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. ” -Psalm 86:14
I found the definition of the word compassion because I didn’t want to go off what I thought it was. Compassion is a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
I’ve really wanted to dive deep and find out who God is. The characteristic of God that just really stuck out to me was His compassion, just Him wanting to alleviate our suffering. I guess it’s just cool to kind of understand that God cares. Sometimes I forget that He is full of compassion and that His love is unfailing; there are times when I think of God as being unreachable. It is His true compassion that shows me who He is truly is. I don’t think that God ever wants bad things to happen to us, why would God be full of compassion and full of wanting us to suffer? I just don’t think that’s him. God is full of compassion, he cares about the suffering I go through and the suffering you go through. He wants to take our burdens.
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
