“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
My sister had her wedding a few weeks ago.. and as she walked down the aisle, her groom’s face was lit up and he grinned a silly smile at her. Why are we,the church, compared to God’s bride? I mean.. the groom is love with his bride.. when she is in her white dress and her hair placed all nicely.. he doesn’t care about anything around him.. his eyes are on her. I think the connection God is trying to show in the verse above with a groom and his bride.. is that the groom is desperately in love with her. God is, honestly, in love with the church.. the people in the church..not literally the building you worship in.
I know this thought is random… but I love the idea of our bodies being the temple in which our savior dwells. (1 Corinthians 6:19…. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own….”)
God dwells in us, now I’m not saying that if you do a biopsy on a Christian.. that you’ll find a piece of God.. because most likely..that won’t happen.
I love how in the very first verse of this post.. how it says.. ” He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
When we finally meet God in heaven… there will be no tears of sadness. No death.. no hurt, nor any pain. So pretty much.. when we come face to face with God.. we will be in perfect peace..
When we literally dwell with God.. we will be living with Him.. interacting with Him.. the way He always wanted it to be. I can’t wait for that day..
