Seventy years young?
I’m sure you’ve all asked a person on their birthday how old he/she is. Have you ever gotten the response, “Oh..I’m sixty-five years young.” Or maybe you’ve gotten a different age answer but the phrase was still “I’m such and such years young”, okay…I’m sure you get my point.
When I think of life.. and how a person ages, it makes me realize how long life may seem; when in all reality life is like a wave… here one second… gone another.
James 4:13-15 (MSG)
“And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, “Today—at the latest, tomorrow—we’re off to such and such a city for the year. We’re going to start a business and make a lot of money.” You don’t know the first thing about tomorrow. You’re nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead, make it a habit to say, “If the Master wills it and we’re still alive, we’ll do this or that.””
I think when some people finally grasp the idea of how short life is… they try to live it to the fullest, fullest meaning…. not a care in the world… getting drunk and being merry, for they aren’t promised tomorrow. That view is quite messed up, the verse above shows that me and you need to make a habit of knowing that each day is a gift and that God wants us to live it out the way Jesus did.
Life is too short to be wasted away.
P.s. I know this is a little late, but Happy Mother’s day Momma! 🙂
